I wish to God my poor birth mother had been able to get a safe and legal abortion. It is a burdensome thing to occupy the deeply flawed body that was created in an unwilling, terrified, very young teenaged girl who was isolated from everyone she knew and loved. I've required multiple surgeries and several chronic conditions for years. In the US, that is an expensive experience. I know in my heart it's related.
I am terrified for my daughters and granddaughters. Apparently, the US thought The Handmaid's Tale was an instruction manual.
